Mark your calendars! On Tuesday, November 15th, 2022 there will be an artists reception with a special presentation at the Town of Ballston Community Library. "Some Gave All" is a photography show by Sue Clark dedicated to and for the enjoyment of veterans, families and community members. The event begins with a social hour/artists reception starting at 3:30PM with the living history presentation "A Veteran Speaks: Oscar Kemp of the 115th NY and the Grand Army" starting at 5:00PM. Ben Kemp, Operations Manager at Grant Cottage Historic Site, will portray his ancestor and speak of his service and relate the experiences of Civil War soldiers after the war which gave rise to modern veterans organizations. Sue's photography show can be viewed in the community/art gallery room of the library from Nov. 5-30, 2022. (Please note: If coming to view the gallery on a date different than the reception, the art gallery room doubles as a meeting room so the public is encouraged to call the library first at 518-399-8174 to make sure the room is not hosting a meeting at the time you want to visit. Grant Cottage might be closed for the season but you can still learn about the life of Ulysses S. Grant by visiting our friends at the @brooksidemuseum @saratogacountyhistory in Ballston Spa, NY. 🎩 This traveling exhibit will be on display until Nov. 11th and was made possible by the @usgrantlibrary to highlight the life and legacy of U.S. Grant during the Bicentennial (1822-2022) of his birth. 📖 The SCHC helped keep Grant Cottage open to the public in the 1980's and we are happy to collaborate with them to bring this exhibit to the public in our area. #usgrant200 #presidentgrant #generalgrant #ulyssessgrant #thingstodo #history

“I took a family member for a pre booked tour and it was magnificent. Steve was our tour guide, and it was just two of us on his tour. Many great individual stories about the Grant family and some new artifacts on display. We brought lunch and enjoyed that on the overlook, on a clear day with that spectacular view. Everyone locally needs to visit this well preserved historic site, whether for a tour, enjoy a program, or just to enjoy the property. Linger a while in the gift shop, too.”
