Adopt A Bench Options:

Adopt an Existing Bench $1,000 - Includes a customized plaque installed on an existing bench on the Grant Cottage property. The bench adoption contract is for a 10-year period with an option to renew at whatever the market prices is at the time of renewal. The option for adoption of an existing bench is subject to availability. Existing benches are 4 feet long.

Adopt a New Bench $1,500 - Includes a brand-new 6 foot bench with customized plaque installed on the Grant Cottage property. The bench adoption contract is for a 10-year period with an option to renew at whatever the market prices is at the time of renewal. New benches are 6 feet long. (There is an additional option to sponsor this bench for *TWO 10-year terms for $3,000, payable now at the current price.)

The Adopt-a-Bench program is designed to allow the public to honor special people or events in their lives and provide long-lasting beautification to this State Historic Site. Through the program, any individual, family, business, or community group can provide a donation to Adopt-a-Bench, which includes a personal message on an engraved plaque (messages are subject to approval).

Honor a family, a family member, friend, veteran, company, or organization by adopting an existing 4 foot bench, or a new 6 foot bench on the site of the Ulysses S. Grant Cottage National Historic Landmark.

The Adopt-a-Bench Program is the perfect way to commemorate and say thanks to someone or something that has meaning to you. Set throughout the beautiful site grounds of Grant Cottage each bench has a bronze dedication plaque. Some benches over look the valley with views of the Green Mountains and Saratoga Battlefield, while others are set on paths frequented by Grant and his family during their stay, caretaker and Civil War Veteran Ope Clarke, his wife Martha and their daughter Suye Gambino, as well as thousands of guests staying at the Hotel Balmorral enjoying the natural beauty of Mt. McGregor in the 1800’s.
